*VIRTUAL* Barrie Annual Walk/Run for Mental Health

Defeat Depression is a walk/run that helps raise funds to support mental health and de-stigmatize mental illness.

Due to the COVID-19 crisis, the event is going virtual this year! The goal is to ensure residents continue to be able to take part in the campaign to support their local mental health resources in a manner that is safe, fun and provides the opportunity to help everyone’s mental wellness. Now more than ever, we must support mental health services and encourage our community to stay healthy!

Registered participants are encouraged to continue to fundraise and share the message of hope this campaign brings. Encourage others to register online, share their story and fundraise. Rather than attending the walk the day of your scheduled event, participants are now encouraged to PARTICIPATE VIRTUALLY. Walk, run or ride, you choose the activity, on your own schedule, in your own way. Whether it is taking a walk, running on a treadmill, riding a bike, or taking a stroll on a trail, you can take part in the campaign and support the local mental health services that are so desperately needed, while this year, maintaining social distance.

Registered participants should also rest assured you will receive your registration kit and incentives. Arrangements will be made to get them to you. Stay tuned for details

Then on May 30th (Defeat Depression Day) join in for a national online live streaming Defeat Depression event featuring guest speakers, testimonials, performers and music. (More details will be available soon)

During this unprecedented time, we encourage you to participate in the recently announced #defeatdepressionchallenge. Today, more than ever, taking care of your mental health is extremely important.
