Shaun Weiss of 'Mighty Ducks' fame arrested, shocking mugshot revealed

WATCH: Former ‘Mighty Ducks’ star arrested

Shaun Weiss, the 39-year-old actor who played lovable goalie Goldberg in the Mighty Ducks movies, was arrested in Northern California on Saturday morning.

The Oroville Public Safety Department confirmed the police arrested a dishevelled Weiss on Aug. 4 at around 12:45 a.m. PT for suspicion of being under the influence of drugs.

“Officers contacted Shaun Weiss near a business … was arrested for being under the influence of drugs,” read the Facebook statement. “He was arrested for intoxication only and no further criminal proceedings are desired at this time.”

Accompanying the post was Weiss’ shocking mugshot, which appeared to show a man far older than the actor’s 39 years.

Weiss was with a group of people “behaving erratically with flashlights” near a business complex in Oroville when he was picked up by police. Some reports say he was shining one of the flashlights into his own face.

He was held in custody until he sobered up, and was then released without being charged. No blood work was done, and police did not confirm what drug Weiss had used.

This wasn’t the first time Weiss had trouble with the law. In August of last year, he was arrested for possession of suspected methamphetamine in Burbank, Calif., after being out of jail for just one week.

(He was arrested in July 2017 for stealing $151 worth of electronics, and was sentenced to 150 days in L.A. County Jail. He was released early due to overcrowding.)

The August 2017 arrest took place after a neighbourhood resident called the police to report a man stumbling around a property near the Warner Bros. studio lot. According to the Burbank Police Department, responding officers then arrested Weiss for possession of a controlled substance.

Police also found a credit card belonging to one of Weiss’ friends in his possession, but the card owner decided not to press charges.

Weiss’ first and most popular movie role was as the talkative Goldberg in The Mighty Ducks, which also starred a young Joshua Jackson. The movie tells the story of a ragtag group of misfit kids coming together to win a hockey tournament, and the film birthed the real-life NHL team in Anaheim (though the “Mighty” was eventually dropped from the official name). They’re now known as the Anaheim Ducks.

He went on to appear in D2 and D3, The Mighty Ducks sequels and had minor roles on Freaks and Geeks, Boy Meets World and The King of Queens.

Neither Weiss nor his manager has commented publicly on the incident.
