Bayview Public School in Midland is participating in the Ontario Schools Battery Recycling Challenge and is looking for YOUR help. This initiative is an effort to teach and promote proper household battery storage and recycling.
The challenge officially kicked off Oct. 16 to align with Waste Reduction Week. It runs to April 20, the Friday before Earth Day.
The Sick Kids Foundation will receive a percentage of the prize money along with the top 3 schools. The battery prize has no predetermined dollar amount, as the total depends on the final tally of batteries collected.
Bayview P.S is currently in 6th place and is asking for your help. If you have any old batteries to recycle please drop them off at Bayview P.S. We will be collecting: AA, AAA, C, D, 6Volt, 9Volt and hearing aid/watch batteries. There will be a battery collection bin outside the front door of the school and we are encouraging drop off between 8:30am-4:30pm.
We are also looking for local businesses to allow for a bin and poster to be placed in their establishment (as long as they are already not collecting batteries for another organization) to help increase our odds of winning.
If you have any question please feel free to contact Shannon at shdunn@scdsb.on.ca .
