Celebrating 25 years of finding the right lap for every cat!
Furry Friends Animal Shelter is partnering with PetSmart Charities of Canada to host a National Adoption Weekend, March 22-24, 2024 at PetSmart, south end Barrie.
This year Furry Friends Animal Shelter is celebrating 25 years of finding the right lap for every cat! And PetSmart Charities of Canada is celebrating its 25th anniversary too! As a “Silver” Adoption Partner with PetSmart Charities Canada, together we are giving cats and kittens what they need most – people who will love them! Here is one love story from a recent adopter named Sonya.
“I had to put my beloved cat down after 18 years and it was absolutely devastating. ‘I’ll never get another cat again!’ I told myself. But the house was so empty and my heart was so empty. I needed another cat.
I saw Eloise’s bio on the Furry Friends’ website and she just took my breath away. She was a tuxedo (I love tuxedos!) and had big, beautiful eyes. When my hubby and I went to the PetSmart Adoption Centre one Friday night to meet her, I just looked in the cage and said, ‘she’s the one!’ She looked at me with those big beautiful green eyes and it was love at first sight, for all of us!
She goes by Ellie now. She loves being the queen of the castle in our home. My husband and I are home with her all day long. She sleeps with us and sits beside me in the bathtub. She doesn’t have a tail and it’s so cute when she wags it…which is most of the time!
We don’t know much about her past, but her life going forward is going to be phenomenal. We are looking forward to spending the next 18 years with this new love of our life!”

- Sunday, March 24, 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Adoption details:

- Apply to adopt in person at PetSmart
- Adoption fees range from $220 – $260. We accept cash, e-transfer and credit card (extra fee). All cats and kittens are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and treated against parasites. Most are also microchipped. All adopters receive a PetSmart coupon book valued at $300, a complimentary bag of Hills Science Diet cat food, and some special purr-ks!
