OUTWOD TO RAISE FUNDS FOR LGBTQ+ CHARITY

LGBTQ+ Fitness Community Bands Together for Group Fitness Event

Today, The OUT Foundation and OUTWOD, the largest international organization for bringing together LGBTQ athletes and their allies to sweat together in a safe, inclusive group fitness environment, announces their arrival to Barrie, ON. The workout and fitness event will be hosted by The Barbell Academy, 580 Bayfield Street, on August 11, 2018 with proceeds benefitting The Gilbert Centre, Barrie.
OUTWOD was founded by LGBTQ athlete and advocate, Will Lanier, who has grown this unique organization to a network which expands across multiple markets including New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Denver, Dallas, and Nashville and includes over 2,000 members nationwide including NBC’s Biggest Loser fitness personality, Bob Harper.

“I’m so proud of everything The OUT Foundation and OUTWOD has accomplished in its seven years,” shared Lanier. “In a time where the LGBTQ community is fighting for equality and respect, The OUT Foundation and OUTWOD are honored to unite a tribe that can come together to not only raise awareness and funds, but also raise heads because nobody should feel that they have to keep their heads down in times like these.”

Since its inception in 2011, OUTWOD has been the catalyst for over $150,000.00 in donations to LGBTQ+ friendly charities and organizations including the Ali Forney Center, the Family Equality Council, Immigration Equality, the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the New York City LGBT Community Center, and more.

“OUTWOD events are open to all LGBTQ community members and friends,” said Lanier. “In the same way being a feminist means you stand for equality of the sexes and doesn’t require you to be female – joining a local OUTWOD event means you’re hopeful for a better tomorrow, regardless of your gender, sexuality or orientation.”
