Turning empties into a cure with 13th annual Returns for Leukemia Bottle Drive
With someone in Canada diagnosed with a blood cancer roughly every 23 minutes, a cure is greatly needed. Blood cancers are the fourth most commonly diagnosed cancers in both men and women in Canada and leukemia is the most common form of cancer in children under the age of 14 in Canada.
The Beer Store and its affiliated union, United Food & Commercial Workers Union Local 12R24, are asking Ontarians to donate their empty beer, wine and liquor containers during the 13th annual Returns for Leukemia Bottle Drive. All proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada (LLSC) in their mission to end blood cancers. In the past 12 years of the bottle drive, approximately $14-million has been donated.
When: May 26th, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST
Where: All 450 Beer Store locations across Ontario
Who: Beer Store employees, LLSC employees, local volunteers and the general public.
